Electronic Document Professional Program

(in partnership with Xplor International)

We develop professional development and training curriculum that fulfill requirements for Electronic Document accreditation and certification as defined by Xplor International. These levels are Electronic Document Associate (EDA),  Electronic Document Professional (EDP), and Master electronic Document Professional (m-EDP). These standards recognize knowledgeable, professional, and expert people in the electronic document industry, and the process is similar to the tiered process implemented by the Project Management Institute.

Employers can use this program to increase employee morale, productivity, efficiency and quality while benchmarking their staff against industry best practices and standards. Because the student is examined on the knowledge they have gained and that training leads to industry standard certification, the program meets corporate HR and Education guidelines and can be funded using the professional development and training budget because.

In addition, the method of instruction and course content conform to the levels of intellectual behaviour important to learning as defined by Bloom’s taxonomy: remembering and understanding, applying and analyzing, evaluating and creating. And our online Learning Management System is SCORM 1.2 compliant.

Who Should Enrol?

We developed the program for all personnel who must be familiar with any process along the transaction document production work flow, and who will be assisting customers or colleagues in business planning, development and operation of transaction documents systems. They would include:

  • Business development and sales
  • Product management/marketing
  • Customer support and account management
  • Operations
  • Application architects, developers and testers
  • Professional services
  • Managers and staff involved in RFPs and hardware/software acquisition

Electronic Document Associate (EDA) Accreditation

Associate level candidates would be responsible for individual tasks in their area of work under the supervision of a Professional. They have demonstrated an understanding of the fundamental knowledge, processes, and terminology of the transaction document production work flow, and the document development and operations life-cycle.

Learning Methodology - Remembering and Understanding

An Associate can recognize the process and its position in the entire transaction document production work flow, list the steps by name, describe what each step does, and use key terminology (buzzwords) in their proper context. They can interpret the process learned into their existing environment, describe the process and how it interconnects with other processes within their organization, and use knowledge gained to improve their own performance.

Designation Requirements

A successful candidate will have achieved the following in experience and education.

  • At least two years active work experience with the technologies, processes, and practices within the industry.
  • The ability to show that the candidate has received an appropriate level of knowledge and understanding of the industry’s technologies, processes, and practices through the completion of at least 50 Xplor Education Credits.

All 50 credits are automatically attained by attending and passing the one week Transaction Document School.

Electronic Document Professional (EDP) Certification

Professional level candidates must demonstrate a working knowledge and experience in supporting a significant subset of both the document production work flow and the document development and operations life-cycle.  They must demonstrate enough working knowledge of these processes to make critical business decisions regarding technology selection or process deployment. They would be able to independently undertake projects or act as team-leader on major projects or programs, and oversee the work of Associate level team members.

Learning Methodology - Applying and Analyzing

They can use a significant subset of the technologies involved in the process, know when and how to use the different technologies within their work environment, can break down an existing process into its constituent parts, recognize their relationship to one another and how they are organized, identify root causes of problems, symptoms, and requirements, and/or plans of action within a complex scenario.

Certification Requirements

A successful candidate will have achieved the following in experience, education, and skill.

  • Experience: at least five years active work experience with the technologies, processes and practices within the industry.
  • Education: the ability to show that the candidate has received an appropriate level of knowledge and understanding of the industry’s technologies, processes and practices through the completion of at least 100 Xplor Education Credits.
  • Skill: show their skill and experience analyzing and using a significant subset of the technologies within the document production workflow while developing, operating, managing and supporting these systems.  To prove these skills, the candidate must document three work examples from projects or activities in which they participated. The EDP Commission will evaluate the work examples for evidence of the candidate’s working knowledge (applying and analyzing) in the technologies of the document production Workflow, and the level of the candidate skill while participating at each stage of the document system development and operations lifecycle.

The Transaction Document School and other advanced courses earn credits that apply towards EDP certification.

Master Electronic Document Professional (m-EDP) Certification

Masters level candidates are the recognized experts on specific technologies, processes, and/or management skills. They are able to demonstrate industry-recognized expertise in multiple roles on a specific technology in the transaction document production work flow, or an expertise in the document development and operations life-cycle for multiple production technologies. Their function is to provide continuous improvement to the process by developing key technologies, methodologies, practices, and ongoing education.

They help set standards and best practices within the industry and assist individual organizations and their employees in achieving these standards. The EDP Commission has recognized the following areas of expertise within the current program - Master of Print Streams, Master of Business Planning, Master of Composition, Master of Operational Automation, Master Level of Knowledge.

Learning Methodology - Evaluating and Creating

A master makes judgments about the value of proposed ideas and solutions by comparing the proposal to specific criteria or standards, putting parts or elements together in such a way as to reveal a pattern or structure not clearly there before, identifying which data or information from a complex set is appropriate to examine further or from which supported conclusions can be drawn, and recognizing root problems with the foundation technologies, architecture, development process, or continuous improvement process.
