You know that you are an industry professional; make 2008 the year that the industry recognizes it. In this highly competitive job market, you want to distinguish yourself to your employer or clients. You also want to position yourself for the anticipated skills shortage caused by production color printing and TransPromo applications.

More than two dozen of your colleagues have recently done so through the Xplor EDP Candidates’ workshop (all workshop participants who submitted a portfolio has been certified).

We have improved and expanded the workshop. We have added the new Document Production Best Practices course by acadami™ as part of the program.

Workshop

The Workshop includes:

  • The Document Production Best Practices course by acadami: a full day on document workflow, technologies, trends, and practices (best, acceptable and bad). The course provides valuable pointers on practices to highlight in your work examples and a better understanding of the overall process.  Last year’s candidate told us that the course provided valuable context for developing their case studies. “I don’t think that I would have received my EDP without the course,” said one candidate.
  • The EDP Commission has awarded one Continuing Education Unit for students who achieve at least 85% on the course examination. The material was developed by acadami™ with industry expert peer-review and vetted by the EDP community at the Boston Conference (this course is offered separately at $600 for Xplor members; $750 for non-members).
  • Three two-hour evening seminars that help you choose the right work examples and properly document them ($500 value)
  • Personal mentor that will review your drafts for style and content (Priceless)
  • EDP program registration ($25)
  • Work Portfolio Evaluation fee ($300)

Venue

A special EDP Candidate’s Workshop seminar generally takes place at the end of the Document Production Best Practices course in each location. The seminar will last approximately 1 hour. Please check for registration information or contact the Registrar if you have any questions.

We will also schedule three two-hour EDP Work Example seminars in the summer and September at each location, included in the registration price.

Value of Certification

Many professional services firms, software and hardware suppliers, Mail Services Providers and IT departments place considerable value in Electronic Document Professionals. Organizations usually hire EDPs first and they receive higher salaries than un-certified colleagues (according to information gathered by a US  placement firm). Government tenders mention EDP certification as a rated or mandatory requirement to perform work.

In addition, the EDP network provides value expertise to draw upon in your work, and contacts throughout the world.

Investment

Your investment for the EDP workshop, including work example mentoring and evaluation, will be $1,000 for Xplor members; $1,250 otherwise. This represents a savings of almost $1,000 over component costs.
